Qatar and Egypt are taking significant steps to deepen their bilateral relations, focusing on enhanced cooperation in various sectors such as economic development, investment, and labor. This commitment was underscored during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The encounter took place in Cairo during the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
Both nations expressed satisfaction with the robust growth in their economic relations, highlighted by an impressive 80 percent increase in trade by 2025. They pointed to the ongoing expansion of Qatari investments in Egypt, which includes a notable project focusing on the production of sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This development signals a shared vision for advancing economic ties.
In addition to economic issues, the dialogue covered labor and consular collaboration, reflecting a broader agenda of mutual interests. The discussions also addressed regional developments, emphasizing efforts to reduce tensions and promote stability. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to coordinating on issues regarding Gaza and expressed support for pursuing diplomatic solutions to resolve regional disputes.
The leaders also underscored the critical importance of maritime security and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea. These elements are seen as vital for safeguarding international trade routes and contributing to regional stability.
