Qatar recently participated in the 31st ministerial meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee, held in Manama, Bahrain. This gathering aimed to enhance collaboration among GCC countries, focusing on critical areas such as electricity interconnectivity, water security, and the increasing energy demand across the region.
Led by Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Qatar’s delegation joined discussions that emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in addressing shared challenges. The meeting reviewed the progress achieved since the last session and reiterated the commitment to greater coordination among member states in the energy and water sectors.
Key topics on the agenda included strategies for improving regional electricity interconnectivity, which is vital for ensuring a stable and reliable energy supply across the GCC. As energy demand continues to rise, the member countries are focusing on sustainable solutions to meet these needs effectively.
Water security was another significant issue addressed during the meeting. With water resources being a critical concern for the arid Gulf region, the committee discussed various measures to enhance water management and security.
