Leaders Address Economic Cooperation Amid Regional Security Talks

On Monday, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, engaged in a telephone conversation with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif. The dialogue between the two leaders was centered around strengthening bilateral relations and exploring avenues for collaboration. Additionally, they addressed the latest regional developments, focusing on Pakistan’s role in mediating efforts to de-escalate tensions and enhance security across the area.

His Excellency expressed Qatar’s gratitude towards Pakistan and other parties involved in mediation efforts, which played a crucial role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran. The Prime Minister reiterated Qatar’s complete backing of Pakistan’s mediation initiatives, emphasizing the importance of peaceful dialogue and engagement from all parties to foster an environment conducive to successful negotiations. This approach aims at reaching a comprehensive agreement that ensures lasting peace in the region.

In a separate call, Sheikh Mohammed conversed with Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia. During this discussion, both leaders explored ways to enhance bilateral ties and addressed regional issues, particularly focusing on the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran. The conversation highlighted ongoing efforts to reduce tensions to bolster regional security and stability. The Qatari Prime Minister condemned a recent drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia and reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all measures to safeguard its security and sovereignty.

The importance of engaging with mediation efforts was underscored, with Sheikh Mohammed advocating for dialogue to tackle the core issues at hand. The ultimate goal is to reach a sustainable solution that prevents future escalations. This sentiment was echoed in another phone call with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty.

During the discussion with Dr. Abdelatty, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the significance of strengthening bilateral relations and reviewed developments related to the U.S.-Iran ceasefire. He stressed the necessity for all involved parties to positively respond to ongoing mediation efforts, which are vital for addressing the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means.
